***DEMAND FAR EXCEEDS SUPPLIES***
The Avocado market is historically high due to the following factors:
California harvest is winding down. This is the last week of any usable volume, with about 2 more weeks of limited availability before the season completely finished.
Mexico’s summer crop is small and very limited. Harvest is slowing down with limited supplies available from now through September. Mexican growers continue to raise the field price due to demand far exceeding supplies. The market will be trending upward quickly for a while. We anticipate for Mexico’s new crop to start around mid-September but subject to the maturity level of the fruit in order to begin the harvest production.
Currently, we do not see any relief to this shortage until we see the Chilean supply toward the end of the month to help with nationwide fulfillment.
Expects for the market price to escalate up to the $100++ per case within next week for the next few months.
Please be prepared to adjust your menu accordingly. We will keep everyone informed as soon as we get more updates from the growers/shippers.
